Professor Pascal Picart of Le Mans University has become the 25th living Holoknight
Professor Pascal Picart of Le Mans University has become the 25th living Holoknight in the world. He was knighted and named Pascal of Le Mans by Guo Hai of Shanghai at the SPIE International Conference on Speckle Metrology conference in Janow Podlanski, Poland on September 11, 2018. Sir Pascal accepted the vows of the International Order of Holoknights and will now be charged with selecting the next Holoknight.
Traditionally, the evening before the knighting service, attending Holoknights meet in a signing service to sign the parchment to be given to the new Holoknight. This is the first time Holoknights will inspect the sword and parchment. Traditionally, the newest Holoknight who had made the final decision and provided the sword and parchment for the new Holoknight signs the document first. Here Guo Hai of Shanghai signs. The sword is engraved in Chinese and English, and Sir Guo’s signature is placed both in Chinese and English characters.

Sir Guo Hai provided a special bottle of fine Chinese brandy to toast the signing.
In all, 12 Holoknights were present for the signing. Werner of Bremen arrived the next day and added his signature, bringing the number to 14.
